My parents and I lived here, in a first floor flat, in the early 1960s. I remember walking up the garden and going through a small gate to get onto the hill. There was a fire escape from my bedroom window into the garden below, and a rubbish shute from our bathroom into the bins in the basement, which I thought was fascinating!

Jocelynne - your comment is fascinating. We lived in the ground floor flat in the late 60s to 1972. I came looking for photos as my father has just passed away and I have very fond memories of my early life at Cleveland. I too remember the rubbish chute (which came near to our front door) and the gate out to the hill. Towards the end of our time there, the rear garden was made much smaller and houses were built behind. An kind elderly gentleman I knew as Mr. James lived more or less above us - I wonder if he was there when you lived there.
