These next 6 pictures show Spurgeons sports'fields where I was fully occupied 1939-49.By the time I left the lower (boys)field was so over used that we had to play football and cricket matches on the field by the pavilion.
Ironically in 1953/5 I was a fireman in Worcestershire and I saw a photo of a helicopter landing on our cricket pitch in The Fire Brigade Union magazine as by then the grounds were the property of The Surrey Fire Service.That picture was in consequence re printed in our Within Our Gates magazine.Is it possible to re-create that in this series? My dad grew up in spurgeons children home in Reigate, from 1943 to 1954'
The final year he moved to Birchington home. His name was Anthony (Tony) Preston and his brothers David and Robin and sister Sandra all lived there too. Does anyone remember my dad? Comment 4

I was in Spurgeons Reigate 1942--1953 then at Birchington when the Homes moved there. Left 1955.happy times for me. Had good upbringing Comment 5
