this dates to before 1910 when the last remnants of Great Doods (including the house) were sold off and demolished and Eversfield road built. The ornamental 'green' feature on the corner of Croydon and Reigate roads is the last trace of this estate which dates back aboutr a thouysand years Comment 2

Redhill Road (with the horse &scarf) is now Reigate Road. The road on the right is Chart Lane. The house is now owned by Reigate Grammar School and is where the headmaster lives. The driveway entrance is now off Reigate Road (about where the horse & cart are). The wall on the left is not there now - Reigate Road has been "straightened out". According to an old OS map I have the driveway into the Great Doods estate was about where the Eversfield Road / Reigate Road junction now is. |
