My late mother, Doris Penfold, and her four sisters attended Ivy Bank School in the early years of the 1900s.They lived in Blackborough Road, Reigate, where their father was a Stonemason until 1914,when he moved to the Armoury in Chart Lane as Sgt Major.

It is amazing to see this photo of Ivy Bank School 50 years before I attended there, later known as North Bank Preparatory School, which ceased in about 1961, as Miss M Rayner, the Principal, retired. I have very happy memories of my time at that school and still remember the names of many of my fellow pupils.

I love this photo of Ivy Bank School. Later the name was changed to North Bank Preparatory School and I attended there from 1952 until 1958. I have very happy memories of my time there and remember the names of many of my fellow pupils. I still have one "writing" book from the third year. I lived in Smoke Lane.

My late mother, Wendy Titshall, went to North Bank school - does anyone remember her?

If this is Ivy Bank on Blackborough Road, then it was in 1875 the home of one of my ancestors, James Duthoit. Wonderful to see this.

I went to North Bank School in 1950-1955. I remember Miss Raynor. I have been searching for my old friend Vanessa Chapple (Chappell) for many years. Does anyone know what happened to her, I would love to know or hear from her. Gillian Mann

My mother went to Ivy Bank, and I went to North Bank School from 1949 - 1954. My maiden name was Watson. I have entries in my autograph book from Miss Raynor and Mrs Mander.

My 101 yr old mother tells me that her brother George used to travel to Ivy Bank School each morning when he was a young boy to clean the shoes for the pupils.

I attended North Bank School and remember Miss Raynor and Mrs Mander. I recall that every morning we had to parade around the hall whilst Miss |Raynor played boring piano - so I organised a pupil collection and went with two shillings to the music shop Rhythms, and returned with some more 'uplifting' music (perhaps Blaze Away) - it brightened the beginning of the day! It was my first rebellious act of protest - many more followed in adult life.

I was most interested to come across this article. I have very fond memories of this little school. I was there from 1950 to 1956 and remember both Josephine Watson and Gillian Mann. The name Vanessa Chappell also rings a faint bell. I would be interested to find out the surname of Christine Iqbal when she was there as I remember a Christine but that was not the surname ( possibly Wheeler ). Thanks to Colin in his message reminding me of Mrs. Manders who I seem too remember was very nice . If anybody would like to contact me I would be most interested to hear from them to discover what their lives held for them after leaving the North Bank School. I left and went on to Oxted County Grammar School and married the girl I travelled with every day on the bus from Reigate to Oxted. Still married after meeting at the tender age of 11 and happily living out retirement in Spain.

I was at North Bank from 1948 to 1954. In the same class as Josephine & remember Gillian & Tony, all above. Tony, I seem to remember your mother, & big sister? Another teacher, Miss Jutson, taught us in the Transition class. Do you remember the unvarying timetable? Today is Tuesday so we would have had English before our milk & Arithmetic afterwards. I seem to recall that term started on a Wednesday, so that was nature study. We learnt about earwigs & woodlice, & for many years I muddled them up!

I went to North Bank School from 1947 to 1953. I have such clear memories of being there. I have a wonderful School photo when I’m sitting on the grass with my friends in the front row and can remember the names of almost everyone in that photo. It was a happy School.
